note: to nest.

....

Springtime has got me nesting.
Our hills are full of snow,
the valley floor an electric green.
There's baby chickens in our garage,
the peas and radishes are up,
and Lucky Red thinks she's part of our human family.
The front porch of our home is also now her space...
And I'm not even mad about it.

This season is undoubtedly my favorite.
My studio is at a quiet rest,
mostly waiting on fresh silver in the mail....
My hands are constantly in the soft dirt of our third season in this garden.
Iris swell with buds ready to pop,
and that front porch is a maze of bohemian living.
Guitars, hammocks, muddy boots, rag-rugs, and yard tools.
I had some iced tea in a mason jar yesterday
and I am living in sandals and wool sweaters.
Between rainstorms, sunny afternoons, and short hail spurts,
it's a grande time dodging the weather in and out of this home.

Summer's buzz is around the corner,
and I savor every sunny minute of Montana's late spring.
Hope your little nest is full of sunshine and fuzz too.
To the richness of it all, ya'll.
And the inches of mud piling in corners of my home from hardworking boots.

Smith River

Fresh air and flowing wind.
Sneaky sunshine, and a heavy happy boat.
The insurmountable beauty of our stark and ever-changing landscape here in Montana
has me by my toes...my cold but happy toes.
Our new boat has been christened in the swirling water of the Smith River,
the start of a great boating season.
Something new for Jesse and I as owners of an old/new raft.
Our family of friends have come closer,
hugging the edges of the old and brings warm arms around newfound family.
A lovely trip.  A truly lovely start to this new season.

This spring adventures brings dry tears to my eyes,
the wind piercing something inside me,
streaming the wet down my sun-drenched freckly cheeks...
Grinning.  Gregarious Grinning.
This adventure smells delicious,
like crumbling bankside and new blades of grass.

It's amazing that after nearly 9 years in this state,
I am still blown away by the beauty here.
Such space.  Such gorgeous sky and space.
There's no wonder this is the land of hard-working dreamers, artists, ranchers, and romantics.
This place is intoxicating.
This is my place.

Shop Announcement

On the Smith River through the weekend, my friends.
Etsy Shop will re-open on Monday the 19th,
and I'll be able to get to the bench and bungalito on Tuesday the 20th.
A box of fresh silver will await my return....uh....awesome!

It's springtime in the Rockies.
Get some.

northwest green

...

A lovely weekend out and about in the woods of our lush Northwest.
Green with spring, a little green with the surfing bug.
Throw in some rare river sunshine,
great friends from our neck of the woods,
and some from much further away.
Coffee in the back of the truck, a warm sleeping bag,
A few furry sidekicks.

Happy girl indeed.
