Kehoe's Agate Shop

Yesterday,
Geeking out in a rock shop in Bigfork, MT.

It amazes me still, to this day,
how infatuated humans are with rocks.
(myself included).
The shop was hopping with customers,
scrambling to take a peek at crazy remnants of the earth's past.

 People from six to sixty...
all clamoring for an explanation,
and wonder.
All collectors of shiny things,
old artifacts,
crystalline structures,
or simple birthstones,
Rare crystals and magnetic agate tree-rings.
The magic of nature.
The old-ness of the earth.

 A communion of sorts,
paying homage to the bedrock of existence.
or, at least the shiny pretty rocks.

A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it,
bearing within him the image of a cathedral.

-Antoine de Saint-Exupery
